Cashback Services That Actually Work
Are you overwhelmed by the dozens of cash back sites and apps, too? We get it. Successfully optimizing our financial lives is fun, but knowing which cash back service to go with can be frustrating. We share the two extensions we wholeheartedly recommend, because they are extremely simple to use, don’t require any work, and issue payments reliably. Some other cash back services ask you to upload your receipts in order to get money back, which, seems too much of a time suck.
Do you have any experience with the below cash back providers or other ones? We’d love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to share your opinion in the comment section.
Rakuten
Rakuten offers an extension you can download to your browser. Once downloaded, Rakuten makes you aware of cash back offers by the sites you visit with a simple, but noticeable pop up on the upper right of your browser window. Cashback bonuses are usually between 1% and 8% but can go up to 40% during sale periods. Once you’ve activated the cash back bonus and made the purchase, Rakuten notifies you how much cash back you received. Rakuten partners range from luxury brands like Ted Baker, Kate Spade, and Michael Kors, to huge mainstream retailers like Target, Walmart, and Sephora. Rakuten sends you a check with your accumulated cash back amount once every quarter. For me it’s been totally worth it. Within 3 weeks, I accumulated over $60 in cash back!

Honey
Similarly to Ebates, you need to download the Honey extension in order to use it. Whenever you’re shopping at one of Honey’s partner sites, Honey scans them for coupons during the checkout process and assures that you’re paying the lowest possible price for the product. If there are no coupons, you receive points for your purchase. You can redeem the so-called Gold points for gift cards at some of the most popular stores.
